Frugal Fashion Find: JustFab & $10 Shoes.

Just Fab Band Western Bootie in taupe.

Every frugal find is not feasible. Especially when it comes to fashion.

So imagine my skepticism when I saw fashionable shoes for just $10 on not one but TWO advertisements on my InstaGram feed.

However, one sleepless night at midnight, scrolling through IG, there it was again -- an ad for Just Fab.

Why not?

It's just 10 bucks. I found several pairs of booties I liked.

Booties are my current favorite style of shoe, for looks and versatility. You can glam them up with dresses, dress them down with jeans -- I have even worn booties with a nice pair of shorts. And you can wear them in warm and cool weather.

After entirely too many minutes of clicking through styles and colors, I decided on the Band Western Bootie in taupe. Just Fab has a vast variety for every style of fashionista and the non-fashionista in all of us. Because let's face it, sometimes, we just phone it in. I know I do at least.

The original price on these Western kicks was $39.95. I got it for the promised $9.99 and paid an additional $4.95 for shipping, which took about a week.

And they did not disappoint.

Fashionable, comfortable, well-made and true to size.

However, they are a 'perfect' fit. If I order a closed boot or something I might wear thick socks with, I will get a half-size up. I wear these sockless or with stockings.

And they are in my current go-to rotation of shoes.

I wear them with jeans on casual days, and they can also be paired with dresses and skirts. So they get an A for versatility.

I have no complaints about these cute open-back booties. They wear well, even when I spend most of the day on my feet.

They seem durable and don't have a look that screams "Cheap, Cheap, Cheap!"

On my midnight sleepless whim, I also tried Shoe Dazzle

I have no idea if Just Fab and Shoe Dazzle are really one and the same or if they are just jointly marketed, but they run the same promotions, and the Shoe Dazzle site has a link for Just Fab at the top of its home page.

Unfortunately, much to my chagrin, when the black stiletto ankle boots I ordered arrived, they were too tight, very uncomfortable (not because of the size, but because of the shoe design.)

The pleather-esque material they were made of looked and felt cheap. I was so disappointed in these shoes that I mailed them back to the company and didn't even take a picture for your viewing pleasure.

Originally priced at $42.95, I got these for $10.74, plus $4.95 shipping and handling. They arrived the same day as my Shoe Fab booties.

Shoe Dazzle did offer to refund me AND provide an additional credit toward a different pair of shoes, but I was too disappointed to give these another chance. They also did not want to refund the shipping cost, which is understandable, but I insisted, and they obliged.

Both Shoe Dazzle and Just Fab offer a monthly subscription, where they charge your credit or debit card $39.95 each month. If you do not use your store credit, it stays in your account at their respective sites.

You also earn points toward merchandise and receive special incentives for being a member. Right now, for example, you can get 75 percent off certain styles.

And keep in mind, both of these companies now offer clothes, purses and accessories.

So, if you are looking for a simple solution to adding pieces to your wardrobe, this might be something to try out. Also, if you have a network of friends who are likely to try them out, they do offer referral incentives. At last glance, Just Fab offered $15 store credit for every referral who purchased from them.

If you prefer to just pay as you go, you can always get your $10 pair of shoes and cancel your subscription. You can still order from either site without the monthly fee.
