5 Minutes to Fabulous with 5 Products

As someone who does not usually spend a lot of time on makeup, I have perfected my 5-minute makeup routine.

This is one I am addicted to right now, both for its long wear, simplicity and its ability to deceptively look like I took time and effort to put together this super-quick, no-brush-needed look.

Let's face it, there are just some times when you want to look glam and do not want to spend the glam time to do it. That is basically me every glam day, glammit.

I tend to keep it simple, if I wear any makeup at all. I spend much more time on skin care than makeup. Because 1. I am probably too lazy to do what these fabulous makeup artists do to their faces on the daily. 2. Your skin is forever. Theoretically, we are going to wash our makeup off at the end of the day and continue to take care of what's underneath.

Theoretically.

In reality, sometimes we land in bed while the pillowcase catches remnants of whatever wasn't waterproof longer whateverwhosit and some what was supposed top be waterproof longwear whateverwhosit because even the best whateverwhosit can only sustain so much friction.

But I digress.

Let's get started!

The only tools you need for this look are your handy dandy fingers, but feel free to pull out the brushes if you so desire.

First up is the Bobbi Brown Extra Illuminating Moisture Balm. I use Golden Glow, and I find this shade, rubbed into your hands and lightly applied with the fingers, is universal for all skin tones. But it also comes in Bare Glow, which is more pearlized, and Pink Glow. This offers a blur, if you will, of imperfections while doing the work of a light bronzer/highlighter. It really catches the light in a nice yet subtle way.

Next I use a smokey eye cheat with the Surratt Beauty Prismatique Eyes eyeshadow duo in the shade Visual Eyes, which is an inky blue cream and a duo chrome blue. I use my finger to dab light amounts of the cream close to the lash line, applying from there up to the crease.

Then I turn to the duochrome shade, which has a glittery finish. I apply this starting just above the lash line right on top of the cream shadow, and I use it more sparingly where there is no cream shadow, all the way up to the brow bone. You can also stop short of the brow bone, if you prefer.

This creates an effortless smokey eye, with variation in color from the layering.

Now to finish the eyes, I line the waterline and upper lash line with Avon True Color Glimmersticks waterproof eyeliner in blackest night. It is super pigmented, my go-to eyeliner (and lip liner) always and I think the best-kept secret eyeliner. It is SO inexpensive and SO good!

Last step to opening those eyes and having a complete eye look is another one of my Avon faves  --  Avon True Color Super Shock Volumizing Mascara in black. The key to applying mascara is getting as much product as you can on the lashes. So I rake the mascara brush from side to side to get the mascara on the lashes before I sweep the brush forward to extend the lash. It's like creating a base for the mascara with itself rather than buying the extra base product.

Last but not least, put a pop of color on those lips! My universal lip gloss is Avon True Color Lip Glow in the shade Lightburst. This shade looks great on every skin tone, and there are 20 other shades to choose from.

These lip glosses are not only affordable but rich and creamy in application. They are semi-translucent, but they are buildable -- you can apply additional layers to get a more opaque look.
